About the program

The “RECA Summer Internship Program” is a training program in scientific research in astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology aimed at students from Colombian institutions. During a period of approximately 10 weeks, students will develop a research project supervised by scientists inside and outside Colombia. In this way, we intend to foster in the student the necessary capacities to carry out scientific research, contribute to their academic training, and improve their curriculum in order to strengthen their applications to graduate programs in astronomy and related areas at a global level.

The objectives of this program are:

• Promote the scientific research of students in training in the areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Cosmology.
• Help students to create collaborative networks with national and international researchers.
• Strengthen the skills of students to maximize their outcome at graduate program applications.
• Strengthen inter-institutional collaboration between members of the astronomical community in Colombia and outside the country.
• Maximize the scope of research opportunities throughout the Colombian territory.

Sobre el programa

RECA Summer Internship Program es un programa de formación en investigación científica en Astronomía, Astrofísica y Cosmología dirigido a estudiantes de instituciones colombianas. Durante un periodo de aproximadamente 10 semanas, los estudiantes desarrollarán un proyecto de investigación supervisado por científicos dentro y fuera del país. De esta manera, pretendemos fomentar en el estudiante las capacidades necesarias para realizar investigación científica, contribuir con su formación académica y mejorar su currículum en aras de fortalecer aplicaciones a programas de posgrado en astronomía y áreas afines a nivel global.

Los objetivos de este programa son:

• Fomentar la investigación científica de estudiantes en formación en las áreas de Astronomía, Astrofísica y Cosmología.
• Ayudar a los estudiantes a crear redes de colaboración con investigadores nacionales e internacionales.
• Mejorar las aptitudes de los estudiantes para competir en convocatorias de posgrado.
• Fortalecer la colaboración interinstitucional entre miembros de la comunidad astronómica en Colombia y fuera del país.
• Maxímizar el alcance de oportunidades de investigación a todo el territorio colombiano.)
